Me Before You & After You || Book Review || Blogmas Day 6

I read the two books over a weekend after falling for the hype and while not expecting much (although, I got super excited by the trailer for Me Before you) I still wanted to read the books before I saw the first film (will there be a film for After you?)

If you don't know who Jojo Moyes is, she is an English journalist and a romance novelist and she has twice won the award for Romantic Novel of the Year.

Me Before You
In Me Before you  we meet the main characters of the series for the first time - Louisa Clarke and Will Traynor (and their families). Louisa had spent years working in a café and had a pretty boring life for a 27 year old. Will Traynor was a businessman in London before his accident that left him paralyzed for the rest of his life. The two of them meet when Louisa loses her job because the cafe closes and Will's mother hires Lou to be Will's carer.

Their relationship is very uneasy in the beginning but as the story unfolds they slowly fall for each other and that's what the book is about: finding love then realizing what it truly is and understanding that you can love someone so much that it hurts and then the blow of losing them.

Me Before You is definitely a tear-jerker and I recommend it all the same. The story is wonderful and definitely worth all the hype.

After You
After You follows Louisa's life years later when she is still learning how to deal with the loss of a loved one and facing her grief and guilt head on. She learns how to resurface from her own sorrow and then slowly begins to understand that it's okay to move on and be happy even after you've lost someone that meant so much to you.

I rate both books 5/5 stars.

Side note: I watched the film based on Me Before you and it's fantastic. It sticks pretty close to the book and the cast is amazing, I smiled so much! Definitely check the film as well!
